Lomenick Mausoleum Phase I Complete Developer Announces Further Plans
EAST RIDGE, TN- Developer Thomas Lomenick has just announced the completion of Phase I of a new project in East Ridge, Tennessee. The Lomenick Cemetery and Mausoleums is located atop one of the highest points in East Ridge, Tennessee near Chattanooga, and is the oldest continuously operated cemetery in the community. It was established in 1847 by Pressley Roofus Lomenick, who was a renowned land surveyor and engineer of the time. To continue his family tradition, Lomenick has constructed the first in a series of community mausoleums with niches/columbariums for cremation remains at the site. “Until recently, mausoleum entombment was thought to be only for the very wealthy. However, community mausoleums have made above-ground burial or entombment an affordable option,” said Lomenick. “Through modern architecture, technology, and methods of construction, we have been able to bring one of the world’s finest forms of burial to a price that is comparable or equal to ground interment.” Lomenick and his business partner, wife Muriel, traveled to Kentucky, Virginia, Louisiana, Texas and Florida to research and inspect various options in this form of interment. The design and construction of the East Ridge structure was a combination of what they saw, based on what they felt would best suit the Chattanooga area. The result of their research is a facility using the latest in construction materials of steel, concrete and granite. The seven level structure is designed to house 448 crypts, and 392 niches or columbariums, for cremation urns. Each space is a clean, dry vented chamber away from the elements of the earth and is constructed to endure through time. Ornamental plantings including flowering plants and trees have been installed to create a peaceful, garden setting. A climate-controlled chapel for on-site services is the next scheduled project, along with other mausoleum structures. With the space for future expansions, the Lomenick Mausoleums should accommodate the entombment and memorialization needs of the township and surrounding area for generations to come. Crypts may be purchased in singles, pairs or blocks for family arrangements. The Lomenick Cemetery Mausoleums are located on Cemetery Road which can be reached from the 4100 Block of Ringgold Road (U. S. 41), and /or Belvoir Avenue
